Asian grocery stores and supermarkets stock ingredients, snacks and household goods that general American supermarkets often do not carry, organized by category rather than by country of origin in most stores. Produce and live or fresh seafood sections are usually at the back or side of the store, and weekend mornings bring the largest crowds and freshest restock. Many larger Asian supermarkets include a hot deli or food court counter selling prepared meals by the pound or as fixed plates, useful for a quick lunch while shopping. Labels are frequently bilingual or untranslated, so store staff can usually help locate a specific ingredient if you ask. Cash, cards and mobile pay are all commonly accepted at larger chains; smaller specialty shops may be cash-preferred.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. Typical hours are 11 am–2 am. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. You can reach City Market at (984) 232-8661; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is historiccitymarket.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Customers rate it 4.4 out of 5 on Google across 501 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded asian grocery stores in Raleigh.

Raleigh is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Raleigh is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

It keeps taking me to a spot that I am not interested in going. It also only gives car directions when I’m walking.

Small historic market area. Some shops were closed, but the ones open had unique items. Cozy place to walk through.

Our food was fantastic! My son had pulled chicken and brisket and I had turkey breast and they were all wonderful. The staff was very friendly to a person and it was a wonderful experience overall. Highly recommend!

Park View at Market Hall is an awesome venue in Historic City Market downtown Raleigh. Large space with great lighting surrounded by cobblestone roads and great local restaurants.

First time going here and what got us choosing this place is that their ice cream is by Maple View Farms which apparently is known for their Antibiotic free, hormone free, from grass-fed cows ice creams. I love their Coffee and Cookies and Cream flavors. They were so good and are very flavorful. You can actually taste the Coffee! The shop is small but it makes up for the great tasting products they offer. If we're ever back in town, we're sure to come back there!
